  • Per Oregon Metro regulations, the following items are PROHIBITED from drop boxes and roll-off containers in the Portland Metro area:

    🚫 Prohibited by Oregon Metro (cannot go in any drop box):

    • Vehicles or auto bodies (anything with a drive motor, including motor homes)

    • Asbestos-containing materials

    • Fire debris / ash from structure fires

    • Flat or built-up roofing materials (tar/felt roofing)

    • Loads of liquid waste

    • Petroleum-contaminated soil

    • Radioactive metals or materials

    • Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries

    • 🚫 Hazardous Materials (must go to Metro Hazardous Waste facility):

    • Paint, stains, and solvents

    • Pesticides and herbicides

    • Motor oil (beyond small quantities)

    • Propane tanks and gas cylinders

    • Batteries (lithium, lead-acid, alkaline in bulk)

    • Pool chemicals

    • Cleaning chemicals and bleach

    • Medical waste and sharps

    🚫 Other items we cannot accept:

    • Tires on large commercial vehicles (semi, heavy equipment)

    • Railroad ties (commercial quantities)

    • Contaminated soil

    • Stolen materials

    ⚠️ Customers are responsible for prohibited items left in containers and may be fined or held liable for disposal costs under Metro regulations.
